Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning (2025) - An Epic Finale

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning (2024)

I have always been a fan of Tom, and consequently also of the Mission Impossible saga, dear to the actor for more than 20 years. Despite this, I have to admit that I have not seen every single film. I am sure as hell that I have seen the last 4 or 5 and the 3 most recent ones (counting this), so Fallout and Dead Reckoning I saw them all in the theater. And yet, it was the first time that I went to the cinema not perfectly "aware" and prepared for the idea that it was the last film of such an important and long-lasting saga. I enter the theater, also with my grandmother who is a mega fan of Tom (I must have taken after her) and what passes before my eyes over the course of 2 hours and 50 minutes is a breathtaking blockbuster that perfectly closes a legendary saga.

I have read many criticisms online, mostly born from the open ending that many say is "not very satisfactory" or from some choices in the script that made most people turn up their noses. For me it makes no sense. First of all, it makes no sense to expect the movie of a lifetime from an action movie of this caliber, and then it makes even less sense to criticize a movie that for 3/4 of its duration is anything but bad or poorly done. Of course, it is not without flaws, but if only there were 40 more movies like this, where in every scene you can feel the protagonist's heart beating for the joy of the seventh art. In every sequence, in every frame, this is why I love Tommy. Because unlike others, not only does it always bring home excellent products, whether commercial or not, but because the bro always puts his heart into what he does, until the end, and it is... beautiful, damn... it is really beautiful to see.
The sequence in the submarine is a work of art of CGI, practical effects and stunts: an entire section without dialogues that charges the viewer with a unique tension of pure anguish like few other action movies have done in recent times. Not to mention the sequence in the plane instead?! What are we talking about? I know that for many it may seem like bullshit, but damn the quality and courage shown in such moments must be an example to all fans of the films. Because as much as one can say, very few actors and few films dare on a technical level and from a physical point of view so much. It’s extreme. And the ending? Satisfying and intense. It reminded me of "Twisters", open, but at the same time closed, which gives hope for the future of the characters. Furthermore, as in that case, the female presence here is not sexualized at all, ending up only to cover the caricatured role of "the protagonist's woman", quite the opposite.

Hayley Atwell's Grace became in all respects one of the key and compelling characters of the story. How beautiful... beautiful cinema and beautiful this ending of Mission Impossible, whose worrying duration is not perceived even for an instant. I repeat, it is not "Citizen Kane", and that's fine. Tommy doing amazing stunts, Simon Pegg acting like an idiot...but what more do we want? Sure, it's not like the previous one, on par with Follow, but so what? Who cares, this movie rocks and I liked it. Even my grandmother liked it a lot, even though I had to explain to her several times what the fuck an AI was.
