Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) - The Movie that DIDN'T Save the MCU
Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)
I admit that I had high expectations for this third film, both because it was the only Marvel film coming out this year, and because a film about this character (who I loved in the first 2 films) hadn't come out since 2018; however, the wait, against all odds, didn't bring the desired results. Because this "Deadpool & Wolverine" isn't even identifiable as a film. The story could have been 500 times simpler, more linear, more intimate (perhaps focused only on the 2 fucking characters of the title) and instead it ends up being a jumble of senseless things, put in random order and without the slightest chemistry between all the characters; even the relationship between Logan and Wade is truly one of the worst things seen in a film.
A relationship based on beating each other up? How fucking childish can that be. It almost seems like the two actors had more connection in interviews and press conferences than on set. However, leaving aside the relationship between the various characters, the film has plot holes as big as lunar craters and absolutely dead moments in which nothing happened (and I mean nothing), something that in a 2-hour film that has been awaited for 7 years cannot allow itself to happen even by mistake. In addition to this, the direction is mediocre like few things, the cinematography forgettable and flat and the editing done by someone with quite strong ADHD.
The jokes in some places are funny, yes, but in others they become a point in the eye and do not allow you to fully enjoy the film given that there are like 5 of them every second. Of all these things, however, the worst in my opinion is having wasted the presence of an actor like Hugh Jackman and having besmirched (yes, even if it was ironic it wasn't funny at all) "Logan" and its characters. In short, not the film that will save Marvel (not even remotely), but certainly the film that made me say, enough with this type of Tik Tok cinema, because having managed to put such a beautiful and iconic character like Deadpool in a bad light was a fucking feat.
I conclude this review with regret, because the premises for a truly beautiful film were there, but apparently at Disney making money matters more than having the interest of the public.
